Moving on to storage, we're expecting the Note 6 to be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB flavours, inkeeping with market trends. However, in February, Samsung took the wraps off its 256GB flash memory chips. This is almost certainly going to appear in the Note 6. This means that not only will the Note 6 rival desktop drives for storage capacity, it will also outpace them in terms of speed - the module is almost twice as fast as SATA SSDs.Sources have suggested that the Note 6 will be outfitted with a mammoth 6in screen, which seems about right. One of the Note range's selling points has always been a larger-than average screen, so we'd expect the latest model to have a 6in display at the very minimum.
Slightly more troubling is the rumour that the display will have a 4K resolution. While the Note series has traditionally gone for the most cutting-edge components available, a 4K screen would be a massive mis-step for the company. Not only is a 4K resolution wildly unnecessary for a smartphone (as proved by the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium) it also requires staggering amounts of power, and would drastically shorten the device's battery life.A far more sensible option would be to stick with the QHD panel used in Samsung's latest crop of phones, which are incredibly impressive and yet still power efficient.
Battery and charging The Note 6 is tipped to be the first Galaxy device to feature the new USB Type C charging standard. While this has a fair few benefits (including being fully reversible) it does mean that the Note 6 won't be compatible with existing MicroUSB adapters and accessories.
The battery itself is rumoured to be a monster 4,000mAh cell, which should give it a very impressive battery life indeed. However, the rumoured 4K screen would be a massive drain on the battery, and could see the final battery life end up even worse than the Note 5 if included. As with any Galaxy Note model, the star of the show is likely to be the S-Pen stylus. This is a dead cert, as note-taking (as the name implies) is one of the Note's major use-cases.Whether it will be any different that the one seen on the Note 5 remains to be seen, but we'd be surprised. Last year's S-Pen was basically spot on, with the inestimably satisfying clicker being the cherry on the cake.
If the S-Pen gets any new features, expect them to be on the software side, with improved actions and shortcuts. New integrations with third-party apps would also be welcome. The curved Edge display seen on recent Galaxy S models was first introduced on a Note device, and it looks like it could be making a return. Certain leaks claim that the company is testing Note 6 models with and without curved displays, but it's uncertain which version will make the cut. It's possible that they could offer both, but the more likely bet is that Samsung will opt for a curved display, as it's now a unique identifier for the company.Like its flagship stablemates, the Note 5, which was launched alongside the Galaxy S6, ditched the fan-favourite IP68 waterproofing and expandable storage. However, given that Samsung has now reintroduced these features to its flagship brand, it seems obvious that they'll do so for the Note 6, too.
Finally, some sources have claimed that an iris scanner could be included in the Note 6, but considering that the fingerprint sensor already provides biometric security, we can't see any logic in doing so.That said, leaks showing an unusually large cluster of sensors on the Note 6 have fuelled fresh speculation that this feature may be making an appearance after all. Samsung has been outfitting its most recent devices with some truly excellent camera technology, and there's no reason to expect the Note 6 to buck that trend. The main question is whether or not it will carry the Galaxy S7's excellent camera, or an even better one.

Rumours from SamMobile state that the company is working on new smartphone camera tech, including a 1/1.7in sensor with a f/1.4 aperture, with a resolution of between 18 and 24 megapixels. If accurate, this would mean dramatically improved low-light photography capabilities, along with a bump in general image quality. However, these rumours have yet to be properly corroborated.Speaking at Vox Media's Code Conference Wednesday night, Musk said the energy density of its batteries is increasing on the order of nearly 5% per year, which ends up being a "significant number" when added up over a number of years.Energy density is a measure of how much energy a battery can hold. So having a higher energy density means having a longer battery run time."A lot of people think we cobbled together some laptop batteries and made a car, but it's a lot harder than that," Musk said. "If it was that easy, I think we would have quite a few competitors who did the same thing."
But Musk said energy density really isn't really an issue for Tesla. He's so confident in that he said Tesla could make a car with a 400-mile range today. What Musk really wants to do through his massive battery plant, the Gigafactory, is decrease the cost per unit of energy of battery packs. Put more simply, decreasing the cost of Tesla's batteries will make its cars more affordable. This isn't the first time Musk said his real goal is on making more affordable electric cars. The Model 3 is Tesla's first stab at affordability with a price tag of $35,000 before federal tax exemptions. And in a recent conversation with Norway's Minister of Transport and Communications, Musk said "there will be future cars that are even more affordable down the road."
With music however, the iPad won out. Though the Kindle does have dolby speakers which come through beautifully even on full blast, when headphones are used (for reference, in this trial V-MODA Crossfade M-100 headphones were used and to make for a one word review of them: amazing) there was no noticeable difference. The iPad in this case had the benefit of simply having more music options available, with iTunes alongside the Spotify, Pandora and Bandcamp apps that the Kindle also provided, and with an only slightly inferior external audio quality, this gave the iPad an edge.
It should be noted, that while Apple made the iPod and iPad line originally for music, Amazon similarly created the Kindle line as e-readers. To say the HDX has kept up the tradition would be an understatement, as it boasts the clean, classic controls you’d expect from Kindle, and a library only rivaled by the combined title registry of Alexandria and the Library of Congress. This pot is further sweetened in that many classics, educational texts or historically important documents are typically free within the Kindle store and Prime users can rent out books for free on a monthly basis. The iPad’s reading app in contrast, hasn’t quite kept up though it is easy to use and perfectly good in its own right.
If you are looking for a tablet mainly to watch shows, listen to music or read books, it is unlikely that you will need to an expensive or top of the line CPU or GPU to get what you want done. If this is the case, the Kindle HDX is the clear choice.Perhaps the best argument for owning a tablet is that you can take it and use it in places that would not be ideal for your everyday laptop. For both the Kindle HDX and the iPad, the benefit of a large and bright screen is a trade-off in the sense that both are somewhat unwieldy if you are traveling without a carrying case of some sort. That being said if you are the type to travel with a messenger bag, you will find both are both compact and slim enough to be a barely noticeable addition to the load, even with protective cases. In terms of “in the field” use, both are fantastic as they can be used in nearly any light condition without issue. The Kindle HDX is of particular value here, in that during traveling or outdoor work, it has a wonderfully long battery life and can be recharged with any typical micro-usb charger which is a common find. The iPad also has a great battery life (though it can overheat in outdoor conditions on particularly bright days), but if a charge is needed, the proprietary charging cord can be a hard find or a slightly more expensive replacement.

Tesla is putting its energy (yes, pun intended) in batteries so it can make the electric vehicle of the future: a car with a long range at an affordable cost. He likened it to cell phones, which have gone through so many design iterations and have such a large economy of scale that everyone can "have a supercomputer in their pocket."Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release is delayed again? The latest report is claiming that there is a possibility of Microsoft withholding Surface Pro for some more time.According to The Country Caller, Microsoft wants to install latest hardware features into Surface Pro 5. The early launch will prevent the brand from fulfilling its dream. Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to have Advanced Micro Devices, Polaris Architecture and Nvidia Corporation’s Pascal. These two features will make Surface Pro 5 a game-oriented device. Yibada says Microsoft Surface Pro 5 launch will happen in March 2017. Microsoft Surface Book 2 and Surface Phone are also expected at the same launch event.
According to International Business Times, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be powered by the Kaby Lake processor from Intel. The device will feature improved graphics and battery life. A rumor says that Microsoft is choosing Intel Skylake chipset. Since Microsoft has not released official details about Surface Pro 5 you have to take the information with a pinch of salt. Surface Pro 5 will carry a USB Type-c port. It was missing on Surface Pro 4. Chromebook Pixel and MacBook are sporting USB Type-C port. At least for the sake of competition Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will include USB Type-C port. The device will have a 13.3 inches screen with 4K resolution. There will be a fingerprint reader too.
Microsoft is sending an improved Surface Pen with a rechargeable battery. This Surface Pen will be replacing the current AAAA battery-powered stylus. You can charge the Surface Pen through a magnetic dock. Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will run on Windows 10 Redstone 2 OS (pre-installed). The laptop can function up to 7 hours if it’s charged once. Surface Pro 5 base model will cost $899 approximately. The upgraded version will have the price tag $1800.
At first glance, the MacBook Pro 15-inch and the Razer Blade don't seem like rivals. After all, one is for creative pros, and the other is for gamers. But both of these big-screen notebooks pack a serious punch in a portable design. We pitted these powerhouses against each other in an eight-round battle to name a winner. So, which is it — the svelte, silver workhorse or the ebony, gaming badass?Overall Winner: Razer Blade The Razer Blade wins this contest six rounds to two, making it the best overall choice, but the MacBook Pro 15-inch is no slouch.
When it comes to offering the best combo of productivity and endurance, the MacBook Pro is hard to beat. The notebook offers over 9 hours of battery life, a powerful processor, a lovely Retina display and the innovative (though maybe not totally necessary) Force Touch trackpad in Apple's often-imitated-but-never-duplicated design. However, having to shell out $2,499 for a discrete graphics card is a bit much to ask, especially when gamers and creative professionals can get the Razer Blade for $1,999.
With the Blade, you get a stunning QHD+ display, a highly customizable keyboard and solid performance with wicked graphics. Plus, you can transform the Blade into an even more powerful system with the optional Razer Core and a desktop graphics card. As a gamer and a responsible working adult, I want the Razer Blade so I can transition from work to play without batting an eye.
VR was everywhere at this year's Computex Taipei tradeshow and so were backpack computers, designed to help you use the HTC Vive headset, without dragging a wire with you as you play. At its booth, Zotac showed off its upcoming entry into the suddenly-crowded PC-in-a-pack, a battery-powered desktop in a soft gray bag. I had a chance to go backs on with the as-yet-unnamed device and it was relatively comfortable, all things considered.A number of other vendors have already announced PC backpacks, with HP showing a prototype earlier this year and MSI and Chaintech flashing their new packs at the show. All of the packs are designed to help users enjoy the HTC Vive without dragging around a long wire that connects the headset to their PCs.
Zotac's dark-gray pack contained a small, rectangular PC, which was equipped with an Nvidia GTX 980 desktop graphics card, a quad-core Core i5-6400 CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 240GB M.2 SATA SSD. The computer had wires to connect to the Vive headset and a battery, which promises 1 to 2 hours of unplugged use. The model I used is a prototype with no model name yet, and its design and specs that are not final. At around 11 pounds, the pack didn't feel weightless, but it was actually a lot lighter than the laptop backpack I carried with me all day, which was loaded with my notebook, a camera and a few wires. The pack was also thinner than my own. The main straps were nicely padded to make them easy on the shoulders, and there was also a waist strap. MSI's pack is approximately the same weight.
After a Zotac rep put the HTC Vive headset over my face and handed me the dual controllers, I was firmly ensconced in a virtual world. First, I played a very simple space game where I had tiny meteors flying at me and I had to shoot them with a laser. This first title didn't require a whole lot of movement beyond rotating slightly on my feet so the feeling of the pack was less obvious. Then the Zotac team fired up a game of Arizona Sunshine, a first-person zombie shooter. The game has incredibly detailed graphics and a fairly large playing field. I didn't have to walk much in this game, but I did have to rotate and crouch down a little bit to aim my guns at the oncoming hoard. As I bent my knees slightly, I could definitely feel the large computer on my back. As I pivoted rapidly to meet an oncoming zombie and then bent down to reload, something occurred to me. What if I get too aggressive in the game and lose my balance? If I tripped while wearing the Vive, I might fall backward and break the expensive desktop or fall on my face and smash the almost-as-expensive headset. However, I never felt like I was in any actual danger of falling during my experience.
